A Clean & Sanitized Float Pod For The Perfect Float Experience

So your friend tells you how cool this “floating” thing is and you’re ready to book your session! Heck Yes! But, wait, is it clean? How do you clean the float water?

180 Float Spa is committed to clean!

We take pride in our water maintenance and the cleaning standards we uphold. We have robust sanitation procedures for the facility and float pods and it is our priority to provide a clean, safe environment for the perfect relaxation experience.

180 Float Spa is regulated by the North Carolina Department of Health and we worked very closely with both state health agencies and the Float Tank Association to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the float water, pods, and our entire facility.

Water Maintenance

  • The float pod solution consists of approximately 1,000 pounds of magnesium sulfate (AKA Epsom Salt) combined with 200 gallons of water.  This creates an environment in which biological entities cannot proliferate.

  • All clients are required shower prior to entering the float pod.

  • Each day we conduct water testing to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness. Our Certified Pool Operator tests water temperature and chemistry for salinity, total alkalinity, pH, free chlorine, and hydrogen peroxide. We also check the pump psi and flow rate meter to ensure all parts are moving and functioning properly.

  • Before and after every client session, the entire volume of the saltwater solution is  filtered 5 times through a complex 4 step  water sterilization & filtration system:

  1. Ultra Violet (UV) Sanitation

  2. Ozone Purification System

  3. Residual Disinfectant

  4. Water Filtration System

Our pods from Superior Float Tanks have the most advanced filtration system currently available in the float industry.

Filtration System

The Micron Filtration System`s custom X-100 filter is able to filter particles from the water to 1 micron in size and is both NSF 50 and FDA compliant for drinking water (Class 1 Filtration).

Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) Sanitation Science

When germicidal UV light (UV-C) and ozone react the result is the production of hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is known as the Advanced Oxidation Process, or AOP. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are the most powerful oxidation agents available, quickly destroying bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants that occur in water. Hydroxyl radicals also destroy chlorine and bromine resistant microorganisms, such as Cryptosporidium Parvum, Giardia and E.Coli.

Facility, Pod & Room Sanitation

  • Between clients we sanitize all touch points in the facility with an EPA registered “List N” disinfectant including the shower, benches, door handles, light switches, soap dispensers, float controls, handles, floors and anywhere else where clients are likely to have touched.

  • The pods are made from an antibacterial material and after each session the inner surfaces are disinfected.

  • And when we’re closed on Mondays…yep, we’re here for additional deep cleaning and maintenance to make sure our facility is clean and safe for a worry free experience.

Now that you know more than you wanted to about float pod sanitation are you READY TO FLOAT!?
